My brother who owns two JL Audio subs that cost $1600 each can't get over how good the Sony sounds. It just works and does an amazingly good job. I've had no strange noises or over heating problems with it. If I go to work or turn the system off, I just flip the switch and let the sub enter its standby mode. As for the auto on/off switch, I just leave mine on while I'm using the system. Then go back to my seating position and listen and tweak accordingly. Then I would lower the crossover to where the boominess was virtually gone. I would turn the gain on this sub up just enough to where I would start hearing it. Everyone has a tendency of giving a sub too much volume. That sub always sounded out of phase no matter where I put it. It didn't take me long at all to dial it in, unlike the HSU STF-2 that I could never dial in at all in the same room. I know all rooms are different, furnishing, drapes, etc. It blends well with the Monitor Audio Silver 3i's and the Infinity Reference R 162's I just purchased on sale at Infinity's web site. It's about a foot and a half from the corner of the room and about a foot from the wall. I've never experienced it to bottom out before and I've played pretty loud a few times. It hits low, hard and loud when necessary. Everyone knows that bookshelf speakers don't produce a lot of bass so I was looking for something cheap to fill in for a while until I could find something better. I listen to mainly streaming music via Pandora, Tidal, Spotify and Tune-In and watch some YouTube and Netflix.

not for any ground shaking bass, but just to fill out the lower octaves of my two channel system. I purchased one from BB about seven or eight months ago.

I don't really know if anyone cares about this sub, but I thought I'd give my two cents anyway.
